The chart below illustrates the actions that are needed for fat loss.  The arrows point from causes to effects as they relates to fat loss.  For example, the circles labeled "Create Caloric Deficit" and "Use only bodyfat to balance deficit" bring about the effect "Lose Fat".  Because the small yellow circles have no arrows pointing to them, this implies that they are the source actions that are needed for fat loss.  Therefore, all subsequent actions are either direct or indirect results of these actions.  It is important to note that only two of these actions relate to exercise while all of the others relate directly to nutrition.
